In baseball, there was Hank Aaron’s record for career home runs, which stood for 33 years. Now everyone is talking about Tiger Woods’ run to overthrow Sam Snead for the most PGA Tour victories.  I don’t know if there are milestones on record in the world of PR and media, but I just hit one that I think is rather impressive: 100 TV interviews for my client Steve Siebold.

Siebold has done thousands of interviews over the past four years on radio, print and online. But even in today’s ever-changing world of media, television is still special, and it’s still where everyone wants to be.

The process of getting on TV is rather straightforward, but it’s not easy. In fact, it’s anything but easy for someone who is not a celebrity. Sure, I’ve placed speakers, authors and experts on television 10, 20 and even 30 times or more. But 100 TV interviews?  I’m not one to gloat, but I’d be lying if I said that number didn’t impress me.

What’s the secret formula to Siebold’s massive success? He’s the total package.

Controversial – Steve is very controversial and he’s not afraid to say what other people are thinking but would never say on TV.

Author – With seven books to his name, that’s a lot of credibility and expertise.

Great on TV – The man was made for being on TV. One of the best talents I’ve worked with, and he delivers every time.

Public market message – His expertise in mental toughness isn’t an easy sell on its own, but he brought the message to the public market and tied it to weight loss, money and a lot of other relevant topics.

Stays up with current events – The one person I talk to more than my family is Steve Siebold.  He keeps up with current events even more than I do and calls me every day to discuss ways to tie his message to what’s going on in the world.

Great platform – The backbone of his book How Rich People Think is: more than 1,200 interviews over the past 30 years with the richest people in the world. I can sell that all day.

Knows how the game works – Media is a priority for him. He knows if he doesn’t make himself available, someone else will.  When I say jump, he asks how high. We don’t sit and think our strategy out over and over again. We move quickly.

A great publicist – After all, I am in the business of promoting.

If you’re looking to be a guest expert on television over and over again like Steve Siebold, and build a massive amount of credibility, follow some of what he’s doing. It works.
